Start your RAMS discharge request
RAMS says your home loan is now powered by Pepper Money. Your loan account number, BSB and the 13 RAMS number stay the same.
Call 13 RAMS (13 7267) and ask for your payout figure and the steps to discharge your loan.
What the discharge form does
A discharge authority tells your lender to release its mortgage over your property. You may need one when selling, refinancing or paying the loan off yourself. Paying the balance down to zero doesn’t automatically remove the mortgage from the property title.
Your settlement can be delayed if your lender hasn’t received the completed authority. An agreed date or approved new loan doesn’t replace that step.
What happened to RAMS home loans
RAMS says your home loan is now powered by Pepper Money. Pepper Money Limited looks after the day-to-day running of home loans provided by Pepper Finance Corporation Limited.
RAMS says your interest rate, repayment arrangements, loan account number and BSB stay the same. So does your access to myRAMS, rams.com.au and 13 RAMS.
- Call 13 RAMS on 13 7267.
- Ask for your payout figure and the steps to discharge your loan. Pepper Money says that once your loan has moved to it, it can provide your payout figure and explain any applicable discharge fees.
- Ask which form you need and how to return it. The RAMS and Pepper Money pages we read don’t list a discharge form.
Pepper Money says you’re free to refinance at any time. It also says any fees or charges follow your current loan agreement.
What to have ready
- Your loan account details
- The property address, and the title reference if you have it
- The full name of every borrower and every person on the title
- Your new lender, or your solicitor or conveyancer, if a settlement is already moving
- The date you want settlement to happen, if one is set
- Arrange every required signature early, especially if a co-borrower is overseas or you have separated.
- List the representatives the bank needs to contact. If different legal firms handle your sale and purchase, check whether both need to be recorded.
How long to allow
RAMS and Pepper Money don’t publish a processing time for discharges. Call early and tell them your settlement date.
Tell your conveyancer or incoming lender about the settlement deadline and ask for confirmation that nothing else is needed.
What it costs
Pepper Money says your existing RAMS fees and charges still apply after your loan moves to it. Its page doesn’t list a discharge fee, so ask for the amount in writing.
A state government fee to register the discharge on the title applies as well. If any part of your loan is on a fixed rate, break costs can apply too.
Ask for every figure in writing before you lock a settlement date.
Who to call about your RAMS loan
13 RAMS: 13 7267. Email: service@ramsservices.com.au, which Pepper Money’s RAMS page lists. The RAMS website doesn’t list opening hours, so check it before you call.
RAMS points customers whose RAMS accounts closed on or before 31 July 2026 to Westpac’s RAMS page.
Line up the discharge with the new loan
A discharge usually runs alongside a sale or a new loan, and the timing needs to match. If the new loan is ready but the outgoing lender isn’t ready to release its mortgage, settlement can be held up. If the new loan isn’t ready, sending the discharge request doesn’t solve that gap.
This is where we can help with a refinance or your next purchase: work through the new loan and its timing, while your lender and settlement representatives confirm the discharge arrangements. Keep making required repayments until the old lender confirms the loan is closed. How refinancing works, step by step shows where the discharge fits.
How we can help with your next loan
You authorise the discharge and follow your lender’s return instructions. We don’t offer a standalone discharge lodgement service.
If you’re refinancing or buying again, we can help with the new loan and its timing. There’s generally no fee for our service on a standard residential home loan. We’re usually paid by the lender if the loan settles, and we disclose that in writing.
Tell us your current lender, why you’re moving and any settlement date. Call 1300 088 065 or book a free assessment so we can help line up the new loan.
