About Josh

Josh co-founded Hunter Galloway in 2015 with his brother Nathan. Both had spent their careers inside one of the big banks, and both had watched the same thing happen from the inside: lenders competing hard for new customers while the people already with them were left alone. They started Hunter Galloway to work the other way around.

The business began in a home office. Today Josh is a director and one of six brokers at the firm, working alongside a team of credit analysts in Brisbane.

Most of Josh's work is with first home buyers — people who have never done this before, are not sure what they can borrow, and have usually been told several contradictory things already. That is the part of the job the reviews tend to mention: the process being explained before it is started.

  • First home buyers

    Deposit size, what the lender actually looks at, and which of the first-home schemes a buyer is eligible for. Usually starting from "how much can we borrow?" rather than from a chosen property.

  • Pre-approval under deadline

    Getting a pre-approval assessed quickly enough to bid or make an offer, including where a contract date is already locked in.

  • Refinancing

    Reviewing an existing loan against what the same borrower could get today — rate, structure, offset use, and whether moving is actually worth the cost.

  • Investment property loans

    Structuring a second or subsequent loan so the existing home is not compromised, including how lenders assess existing rental income.
